With a name like Bath Built, you may think that we’re plumbers rather than custom furniture craftsmen. So, what’s the story behind the name? While we’d love to tell you an amusing anecdote, it’s really pretty simple: our company was established by Chris Bath. And when Chris saw an opportunity to turn his passion for woodworking into a high-end, solid wood custom furniture business, he knew he wanted to produce a product that he was proud to have attached to his name.

What started out as a one-man operation in Chris’ garage has evolved into a talented team that shares his commitment to innovation and quality. While we’ve outgrown the garage, we’re still proudly local and currently operate our warehouse and showroom in the vibrant community of Abbotsford, British Columbia.

BBCF is thrilled to offer an extensive collection of original designs (from bed frames and buffets, to credenzas and corner desks) all of which are meticulously crafted from solid wood and fully-customizable. Simply choose the size, material and stain and leave the rest to us. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, our team is happy to work with you to bring your unique vision into reality!

BBCF is located in historic downtown Abbotsford, British Columbia which boasts a vibrant mix of shops and services, so why not make a day of it? Grab some brunch or a coffee and donut, then pop by our showroom to chat with our friendly customer service team about your project. Here, we can go over your ideas, walk you through our process, then review your options for wood, stain and hardware. We can’t wait to meet you!

Here at BBCF we take pride in the fact that all of our solid wood pieces are built locally by our team here in Abbotsford. We purchase all our lumber from a local supplier as we are all about supporting our community!

All of our solid wood furniture products are handcrafted using the best materials and woodworking techniques. This includes the use of multiple high-precision planing, jointing, and wood cutting tools to ensure perfectly square and flat stock to work with. Doing this, accompanied with proper wood joinery and design methods, allows our custom wood furniture to be very stable, with low chance of adverse changes over time.

We sand, stain, and seal each solid wood furniture piece to have a smooth finish. We offer a vast selection of stain options shown on different wood types on our stains and materials page. We also have samples available to view in person in our showroom at 120-2553 Montrose Ave in Downtown Abbotsford. Each piece of custom handmade wood furniture is finished with a high solid conversion varnish which provides a silky smooth and extremely durable finish.

BBCF offers a variety of custom furniture sizes and stain options, however feel free to contact us us and we can quote you for a custom piece to suit your needs!

Our solid wood custom furniture pieces are sealed and top coated with a premium Italian made clear coat which provides a silky smooth and extremely durable finish. The finishing products we source are the bleeding edge of technology in the wood finishing industry.

During the first two weeks of receiving your furniture the finish will still be curing to its maximum hardness, so extra care should be taken during this time. Our wood coatings are formulated to provide excellent water, chemical and wear resistance. Follow these recommended guidelines to maintain your finish:

  • Use coasters and hot plates.
  • Most surfaces require only dusting with a soft cloth and the occasional cleaning with a soft damp cloth and then dried
  • For heavily soiled areas, use a mild soap. Follow this by wiping with a damp cloth to remove any soap residue and wipe dry. Always test in an inconspicuous area before forging ahead.
  • Avoid products that contain ammonia as they can cloud a finish. Many glass cleaners contain ammonia.
  • Flax oil soaps require rinsing, and can leave a residue if they are not rinsed well.
  • A lot of damage to a finish can be avoided if spills and splatters were simply cleaned up when they occurred.
